IN07 Cross Of The Gael

The Celtic cross we recognise today evolved from the Chi-Rho that consists of the two Greek letters X (chi) and P (rho) which was enclosed within a circle, and the ancient Celtic
divine sun wheel. The wheel symbolises God, the motionless mover, the centre has no dimensions and cannot turn, yet all moves around it.
 A ringed cross silhouetted against the sky has come to
characterize Ireland, hence the ringed cross is often called an "Irish cross At its most complex, it involves a stepped base, a shingled roof or an elaborate capstone, carved
