PG19 Moon Goddess

A lunar deity is a god or goddess associated with, or symbolic of the moon. These deities can have a variety of functions and traditions depending upon the culture, but they are often related. Some form of moon worship can be found in most ancient religions. Cerridwen is, in Celtic mythology, the keeper of the cauldron of knowledge. She is the giver of wisdom and inspiration, and as such is often associated with the moon and the intuitive process. As a goddess of the Underworld, Cerridwen is often symbolized by a white sow, which represents both her fecundity and fertility and her strength as a mother. She is both Mother and Crone; many modern Pagans honour Cerridwen for her close association to the full moon.Rhiannon was born at the first Moon Rise and is known as the “The Queen of the Night“ and “Divine Queen of the Faeries”. She is the goddess of inspiration, fertility, the moon, night, rebirth, wisdom, magick, transformation, beauty, artistic inspiration, poetry, and death. Rhiannon manifests as a beautiful young woman dressed in gold, riding a pale horse, with singing birds flying around her head.  The singing birds can wake spirits or grant sleep to mortals.
