GCSP08 God Appears And God Is Light
"God Appears & God is Light
To those poor Souls who dwell in Night
But does a Human Form Display
To those who Dwell in Realms of day"
William Blake, Auguries of Innocence
Sometimes we are longing for change in our lives, often a door opens, and we are through without realising it. For me, it was looking after my mother when my father died and began drawing again after many years. My new art life began with a pen and ink drawing in 1977 with an urge to express myself.
From as long as I can remember I loved creating books and this creative passion really ignited when I encountered William Blake. His publishing life seemed to mirror my own fascination with creating books. From a simple picture for a magazine cover in 1978, my art began to develop. Firstly, with simple Celtic borders to surround the art, and gradually the pattern work expanded to complete pieces of work. 6 years later I got my first book commission from a big publisher and from there grew to 53 over the years.
