GCC612 Grace, peace and selfless love

Mary, the mother of Jesus of Nazareth, is one of the most revered figures in religious history, central to Christianity and highly honoured in Islam. Tradition names her parents as Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. She grew up in Nazareth as a young Jewish woman betrothed to a carpenter named Joseph. In the Gospels of Matthew and Luke they record that the angel Gabriel visited Mary. and announced that she would conceive and bear a son named Jesus through the Holy Spirit, despite being a virgin. Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran traditions honor her as the Theotokos (God-bearer) or Mother of God.Guide me with your wisdom, protect me with your mantle, and lead me ever closer to your Son, Jesus.
